Career goals – Hannah’s story

Hannah joined Better Working Futures to boost her confidence around finding sustainable employment, as her main goal was to have independence through working.
During her initial appointment, she met with Employment Adviser Megan and shared her goals, interests and previous work experiences in production management. Hannah expressed her concerns around her mental health, and she told us that she felt being back at work would help her to manage this.
Our team of skilled Employment Advisers will identify participants’ transferable skills, and readiness to work whilst creating a plan of action together. Regular progress reviews ensure our participants are on track to achieve their goals of finding sustainable work.
“When I joined Better Working Futures, I had low self-esteem and had been looking for work for quite a while with no luck.” Said Hannah.
“I was able to check in with Megan regularly, and I received a whole wealth of advice, support and guidance. I attended several workshops that supported me with CV writing, cover letters, and interview skills. These classes not only focused on my employability skills or job search, but they also helped with my mental health and kept me in a positive mindset whilst trying to find work. I attended classes to help with anxiety and self-confidence, and benefit from one-to-one sessions with their Health and Wellbeing Adviser too.
“I can’t express enough how much being on this programme has helped me. I felt supported throughout the scheme. I would often arrive at my appointments needing help and sometimes feeling down and defeated. Talking to Megan had such big impact on me during these times and I always left my appointments feeling hopeful and confident, knowing that I could seek advice and help whenever I needed it. I always felt that Megan believed me in me, which is so important to me and encouraged me to keep going even when I was rejected by applications.
“Megan helped me to secure a volunteering position in customer service, which had a major impact in my job search. This really boosted my confidence and I could start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The volunteering position actually led to a job offer, and I now have a role as Publishing Coordinator, in the sector that I used to work in, which aligns with my career goals.
“I really couldn’t be happier, or more thankful to Megan and the Better Working Futures team. I will be starting my new position shortly, and the support from Megan will continue as I settle into my new role and continue my career.
“A huge thank you to Megan and the rest of the team at Better Working Futures!”
