Minister visit to Croydon

We were delighted to welcome Sir Stephen Timms MP, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Minister for Social Security and Disability, to our Croydon office. Sir Stephen met with our participants, staff and employment and training partners to see the great work that is taking place across our Better Working Futures and Work Routes programmes, commissioned by South London Partnership.

Across both programmes, we are providing specialist support to people with disabilities and health conditions, as well as the economically inactive, to help them into employment.

Following the visit Sir Stephen said, "I saw first-hand the life-changing support being offered to disabled people and those with health conditions living in south London. It’s giving them the confidence and skills they need to thrive, and the stories I heard are proof that when we provide real support, people can overcome barriers and achieve their ambitions.

This kind of support is a blueprint for what we must achieve across the country, and similar to some of the work we are already doing in our Get Britain Working Plan - targeted investment and a tailored approach to empower people to secure employment and contribute to our economy."
